Minister Lena Ek visits China Beijing Environmental Exchange

During her visit to Beijing, Minister of the Environment Lena Ek met with Mr. Du Shaozhong, head of the China Beijing Environmental Exchange (CBEEX).

The meeting took place at the offices of CBEEX and its purpose was for Minister Ek to inform herself of the progress of China’s carbon trading pilot zones that, according to Mr. Du, shall be fully operational in 2013, as well as to get a better understanding of the roadmap to nation-wide carbon emissions trading, which should be in effect by 2015.
Also in attendance were, amongst others, the Swedish Ambassador to China, His Excellency Mr. Lars Fredén, the High Representative for International Environmental Technology Cooperation, Mr. Mats Denninger, and selected members of Minister Ek’s delegation, as well as the head of Tricorona in China.
