Last week, the Chinese authorities published a list with over 500 companies with estimated emissions of more than 10,000 tonnes CO2 per year.

Ericsson, Microsoft, KFC, McDonald’s, Walmart, Carrefour, Nokia Siemens Networks, Pizza Hut and some of the best-known banks such as Bank of China and China Agricultural Bank are examples of big names on the list. These companies are to report their emissions during the coming weeks so that the city can proceed with third party verification and setting reduction targets until the end of the year.

“China is moving fast now that climate change itself and its many possibly negative effects on our food supply, drinking water availability etc. are known and understood” says Hengzhi Xu at Tricorona’s Beijing office. “Tricorona’s renewable energy and energy efficiency portfolio shows the way to a more sustainable future.”
