The World Water Week in Stockholm is starting today. The focus is on how to tackle one of the major challenges emanating from climate change.
Over 2,500 leaders and experts convene in Stockholm, the theme for 2013 is ”Water Cooperation – Building Partnerships”. Participating ministers from Sweden and China will sign an agreement on future cooperation in the water sector. “Safe water provision is one of the most important challenges of sustainable development and climate and water issues are closely related, such as deforestation caused by the need to boil water” says Celinda Palm, Sustainable Development Advisor at Tricorona Climate Partner. “In Tanzania, Tricorona has invested in a solar-powered water purification CDM project, and to date over 1.2 million liters of water have been purified already.”
